Im trying to narrow down my ticking noise and ive narrowed it down to a lifter (even though they didnt move when I pushed on them at tdc on each cyl) or a rocker arm. Now the questions I have are I have no bearings in the oil pan but when I take the rocker off i have side to side play (which is normal for stock rockers) but it also moves up and down abit so much that I can see the bearings inside the rockers. Is this normal? My valvetrain mods are as follows pp stage 2 heads, comp cam 224/230 581/588 114 lsa, chromemoly pushrods.

LS1's just tick man... especially if you have heads and cam. Are you experiencing power loss? Or anything seem to be wrong with your car?

If not.. I'd chalk it up as normal LS1 BS.

 

nothing seems to be wrong its just alot louder on the drivers side than the passenger, i have a set of cranes im going to put on just to see if its the problem

 

Give us an update when the rockers go on. I’m curious as to the outcome.
My value train is also noisy and have been told it's normal. What is your mileage on the motor?
