Default Issue with repairing a damaged block

The block has deep gash in it, approx 1/2"x3/4" at the water port above and between cylinders 3 and 5. Any way to repair this?

call a machine shop and ask them. That deep, not sure... they can't mill that much.

Totally possible to repair it. All the machine shop will do is remove the two sleeves, and weld up between the cylinders, in essence, siamesing the bores. Cylinders are then bored, then the sleeves are replaced. You WILL need to have the block stress relieved after this process.

What would you do...You purchase a new rotating assembly, have it installed, and drive it for a year. You loose a little coolant and a little oil, but nothing major. Then, you pull the heads to install new lifters and find serious block surface damage.

New block is not that much (relatively) 500/600 i think. You're not out that much if it needs to be replaced.

It was installed, ready to drive. My original block was sent in as a core. The more I think about this, the more POed I get.
