I went to our local speed shop, SPEEDTEK.
anyways they said that they could put a SPIS1 Cam in my car, just wondering what exactly would this cam sound like and what power range would be for. my car has headers and high flow cats. what type of power would i be getting and what sound would it be like.

Thats not a big cam but would be good on the street,I don"t know what all you want the car to do?You could go a little bigger like a tr224 on 114 or 112.

 

with a tr224/114 would i have to put a stall converter in. How much difference in power and sound is the tr224/114 than the SPIS1 cam .

 

is that the right numbers? its a reverse split? i wouldn't use a reverse with stock heads, and i doubt a cam that small is gonna give 50hp with stock heads... i'd use a proven cam like a tr224, and if u have an auto, u should get a converter anyway, cam or not... u'd get more gain from the converter then from a small cam... get a SF3000 or ssf3500 and a TR224/114 and u'll be surprised... the 224/114 should sound good, not too lumpy, but noticable...

I'm going to assume that you've made a typo and you've reversed the numbers. Regardless, there is no way in h*** that you are going to get 50hp from that cam.

 

50rwhp from that cam is very possible, its just where in the powerband that 50rwhp is obtained. JMX gained damn near 50rwhp with an ls6 over the stock cam @ 6500rpm.

I don't think so.

Most streetable "cam only" installations are good for 20 - 30 hp. And this one isn't very big. Advertised vs. reality are often far apart. If you want 50hp you are going to need head work.

 

like i said, it depends WHERE in the powerband were talking about. if an ls6 can gain 50rwhp over an ls1 cam explain to me how a cam with more duration, lift, and on more aggressive lobes couldnt do the same thing.

Reverse split are made to be used with stock heads. Look at the X1 cam or Stealth II they are both reverse.

Extra duration on intake to compansate for smaller stock heads intake runners. More duration=bigger charge=bigger bang= faster exit (gases).
