I think its a bit steep IMO, but I spend my dollar wisely and get the max hp, I would say you have about 5000.00 with install but I don't pay retail either...

To install the heads you must take out the eninge correct? IF so, how would you take it out? From underneath? Or say it aint so, would you have to take apart the whole front end to get to the engine?

The engine stays in the car. A quick person can swap heads in 4 hours.

I guess people have money to burn. I actually like doing my own work. It can get frustrating at times. Just take your time. They is a real feeling of accomplishment when you turn that key and hear it fire up after a cam swap or what ever else you did.

In my opinion, that is a lot of money for a heads/cam package. I'm not sure if you'd get 475hp out of it, but it seems that a lot of the heads/cam packages are performing roughly the same, but for a lot less money.

I just can't see myself spending $8,000 for that whole setup, when for $8,000 I can go to somebody else and get a complete stroker motor (400+ cubic inches) with tuning including the heads/cam, then add the little stuff later (headers, exhaust, pulley, etc).

If you want to run low 11's or high 10's with a heads/cam package.... you better pull a LOT of weight out of the car. As it stands, the cars that are running high 10's or low 11's on motor with heads/cam are far and few between. The auto's are having more luck with it, but you better have a good torque converter in there too.

Just my opinion.

i think the 475 is fly wheel hp. Those with s2 heads and a mti cam usualy pull around 410-420 rwhp with an m6 and all the bolt ons, from what i have noticed with stock displacement doesn't seemed to be worth it to me to pay neer 3 grand for the hp you get unless you go solid roller or so on. With stock heads and a full exhaust (LT's, catback) most cars now see 380-405 rwhp with just a cam accompanied with bolt ons on an m6. I say just get the bolt ons a nice set of lt's a catback and a cam of your choice. By my standards i would go with a slit pattern cam b/c i am a forced induction kind of person. For my situation, i see 6.0L heads, D-1 procharger, futral motorsport blower cam (maybe a little less lift for cylinder pressure) on the stock bottom end.

I think this price includes MTI's warranty. If someone knows, please chime in.

It's not the cheapest package around, but in my opinion it's the best. Here's 3 of the reasons why I say that:

1) The heads are hand ported and built in house with individual flow sheets included.
2) The package price includes a 12 month warranty that is backed up by the most reputable shop out there.
3) The owner (Jayson) will personally spend the time on your vehicle (tuning, etc) to make it right when it leaves the shop and if something's not 100% to his satisfaction, it doesn't leave.

Are there other shops/packages out there to consider? Sure and that's the great thing about being a consumer - you get to find what you like and what works for your needs and your budget.

I had a lot of choices when I went with my heads/cam/gas setup on my daily driver, but in the end MTI was the clear way to go for me. I paid more initially but I ended up with a 560 RWHP car (100 shot) that I've put 14,000 miles on in the last year without a day of downtime (except for replacing a door window motor at the dealer).

I'm parting the car out now to start on a new project, but the best recommendation I can give is this: I'll have a Z06 by the end of next month and MTI is the shop that I'll be using to put together a heads/cam/blower setup for it.

Good luck on your project!

Ok guys , What about if I go with a all the bolt ons and a 3200 vig and a nice cam. My question is what cam from MTI should I go with. I want to make good hp but I also want to notice that the cam is there . My car is a daily driven car . What kind of set ups do yall run and what kind of numbers do yall produce .

thanks rg

I think it is worth it when you add in the warranty, but I would go with something else besides the FLP headers and corsa cat back. You should have options on what you want and put it together as a custom package. For example: you should be able to get any headers they sell and cat back they sell amd take the lid and filter out of the package (because thats the first mod for everyone) and basicly allow you to customize the package

I agree 100% with what POOLFANATIC said. Nobody stands behind their work product, install and tuning like MTI and you get what you pay for. Sure, you could get it done for a few grand less but when you break a spring, drop a valve and puke out your bottom end, our they going to stand behind their product and rebuild you a new motor like MTI would with their unbeatable warranty?

Doubt it! Also, not all of us our mechanically inclined and properly installing heads and cam and dialing in the car is not like changing spark plugs!

I say GO FOR IT!
