this sounds like it would work well. being oval it will slide in easy. then rotate them to lift and lock the lifters up. (turning would pull on them a bit at first).

I used 5/16" for mine with a flat spot grinded the whole length of both of em. I also ground the tip into a bullet shape. They slid in really easy. I didn't even bother to bend it to make a handle b/c it didn't take much force.
