Default What heads to get?

I've got a cam I'm itching to put in and I need some heads to go with it. Now the question is, which heads? The cam is a TSP 231/237. I have almost full bolt-ons (no intake manifold) including: MTI lid, smooth bellows, K&N, Kook's with cats, GMMG, pro 5.0....yadda yadda yadda. I'm looking for something that will put me over 430rwhp. I've been looking at the Patriot stage 2's, but have heard some flow issues with them. What do you guys think I shoud go with. BTW It's an M6 '00 Z28 and a rear end is coming over the winter.

Nothing wrong with the patriots! The stg II ls6 from patriot should do you fine. Especially for the price of less than 1700bux. That comes with gasketts and bolts BTW. And of course get a stinkin intake!

You supposedly get free head gaskets and head bolts. Mine never showed up even after calling them twice about the problem. I finally said F*** it and ordered from Thunder Racing a company you can trust and rely upon.

Take a look at our stage 2 head offering. Ryan02SS can attest to dyno graphs I showed him when tuning his combo.

I did not get them with mine cause they were used. I ordered a set for a friend from TSP and ordered the bolts n gasketts. I now have an extra set here if I need them

I will attest to Mikey's Stage II heads as i've seen them personally and have had my dyno graph compared to a identical setup car except it was running Rapid's Stage II head. Take a look at my attached dyno graph. Notice the dip in rwtq from 3500-4300rpms, i've noticed this with the Patriot 5.3L heads. Comparing my graph to a identical setup save for it was running Rapid's Stage II head the dip was not there. From 3500-4300rpms the car running Mikey's heads was 15-20 ft lbs of torque above mine and had 10+ rwtq at peak. Peak HP numbers were close but it shows how a hand finished niche head will put out better under the curve power. This was also done with a head using stock 10.-1 Compression whereas my PP 5.3s are 10.8-1. You get what you pay for most of the time!!!! This validates the old saying.

The intake would be going in at the same time as the H/C. Right now I'd say it's between Patriot stage 2, ARF's, PRC stage 2.5 and the Rapid Motorsports. Budget wise I'm looking to stay under $2000. If I have to go over for a set that I believe is worth it I will though.

Okay I've decided to defintley do heads. I'll be adding a 78mm LSX with a Shaner S3 TB (if a certain member changes to 90mm) I don't want to spend much over $2200 or so. I know the Patriots are the best bang for the buck, and come with the springs I want. Decisions, Decisions.

You can get a set of PRC stage 2.5 5.3 heads like mine for less money than a set of patriot LS6 styles. The PRC comes with namebrand valves in them and made good power and some pretty good track times with the baby cam I'm running. Check out Racetech Speed to buy a set.

I've been looking into those. What size cam are you running? Those are some pretty impressive numbers.

BTW I'll be running the TSP 231/237

It's a PRC 225/225 .589/.589 112lsa 110icl cam. These heads would work great with a 231/237 cam. The track numbers will be better this coming week, the numbers in the sig was last week's first trip to the track. I've taken about 100lbs off the car since then.

Wow, those are some great numbers and that's not really even a huge cam. Those PRC's are looking better and better everyday.

OKay, so I just got off the phone with Jason at Texas-Speed and I have made a decision. I'm gonna go with the PRC stage 2.5 heads. We talked for about 15 minutes about the +/- of different set-ups, and I made up my mind. Now i just have to wait from TSP to start stocking them.
