Hotcam powerband questions
Thanks!
The hotcam is a very friendly-mild-increase-in-HP, no compromise cam. Personally, I prefer a more aggressive grind, but if it is a problemless mod that you are looking for then the hotcam could be your ticket.
Good Luck,
Kevin
Sounds like you are going the same route as me. (I just replied to you post about Macs.)
I'm looking to go make the most reliable power for mainly street use on a budget. I'm hoping hotcam will work well with my Macs. As for everyday, I feel hotcam is one of the best choices for an M6 since you can run reliable LS6 springs, with a relatively low-lift hotcam and not worry about reliability. Some people have seen some serious gains with this cam. Plus the price is amazing.
I plan on installing hotcam this summer. Good luck!

The hotcam will make strong midrange power - at least comparable to the other, more aggressive cams out there. Based on what I've seen, it will fall off some on the top end relative to say a TR224 or the like. Power peak should be around 6100rpm or so and I feel comfortable with a 6500-6600rpm redline with the LS6 springs and stock valves. Plan on shifting around 6400rpm or so.

For a daily driver with only occasional track use, it's hard to beat the HotCam for bang-for-the-buck value. The fact that it is also easy on the valve train is a big bonus too (relatively low lift + not necessary to spin motor above the stock rev limit to get the most out of it). <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
