Default Is this a Bearing from a Lifter or a Rocker???

Ive got a 99 SS Camaro with 67,000. I found this Bearing in my oil when i changed it a few days ago, and ive been doing lots of research. I cant decide if its from a roller lifter, or a roller rocker. The guys at the dealership think its a lifter, but others think different. Can anybody help? I dont really have the tools to go and pull the valve covers off to check the rockers, so i thought id try my luck here.

Here's the link to The bearing I found.

Thanks
Brian

Tell the Dealership guys to take a coffee break. This is a rocker bearing.
If I were you, I wouldn't take my car there.
Also word of caution, there are 33 of those in a rocker, now you need to find the other 32.

Well after looking thought your web shots. It seems that you have some after market rockers. Where did you have them put in. Take it back and have them fix it.

When did you do the rocker mod?? Could this be a bearing from your old rockers?

That looks like the 9 "needle bearings found in oil pan" of my car.

here are a couple other links:

I found mine last week. I just bought the car with about 72000 miles on it, and had them do a fairly comprehensive ~60000 mile checkup on it. Found the needle bearings when they changed the oil, sticking to the magnetic oil pan screw.

I am considering going with an SLP rocker/spring package, but that changes the lift to 1.85 from 1.70, so I probably will not be able to stick a cam in, or atleast, I would have to change back to 1.70's at that point. To be honest, the stock 300 hp is enough to scare me in a convertible, so I probably won't miss the cam option. I love to drive but I am not much of a shade tree mechanic, so I would love to hear some opinions and options on this from others that have travelled this road !!!

Good Luck on fixing yours flyingguy001 !

That really makes me feel alot better to see that you guys think its a rocker bearing. Im sure you all know what would be involved if it was a lifter bearing. Thanks for the help, now i need time to take off the valve covers. Doesn't seem like a real fun or easy job with the fuel rail, the injectors and all. Thanks again for the help.

Its easy. Don't have to mess with the fuel rail/injectors at all. Remove the AIR tubes from the exhaust manifolds, unplug the fuel feed line from the rail, remove the coil packs, then finally the valve covers. 1 hour tops for a newbie.

I've got a set of stock rockers with less than 50,000 miles on them. I'd sell them if you're interested. Shoot me a PM if you want them.

I appreciate the offer for the rockers, but with all the info I have gotten about the stock ones. It seems like my best bet would be to get some good after market ones. But thanks.

So what are some good aftermarket rockers? Ive heard lots about the yella terras, but i have also heard that there is some grinding on the valve covers that is required, is that true?.

Thanks to everybody for the help, I am very impressed with the knowledge that many people have on this website.

As with all aftermarket parts, can't take anything for granted and check all clearances. Harland Sharp rockers, 1.7 ratio >>>>>TSP or Nasty Nate to name a few ~$320.00
