What cam should I get. It wil be with stock heads (until I get stage 2). I don't want to rev the car to 7000 RPM. I want the most acceleration.. and quickest track times that I can get. Doesn't matter if it doesn't dyno the highest. I want it pretty damn choppy at idle also, I just want it to sound raw at any RPM. What do you guys think.. I like the sounds of the new Texas Speed cams (228R and the reverse split 228).
Let me know!!

Take a look at this list of installed setups
and see if there is something there you like.

I just posted this in another thread, but here's a sound clip of the TSP228R that was installed last week on LS1ITLDO's T/A. This is through Mac's / no cats and Dynomax Bullet and cutout.

Mike,
Our 228R or 228/224 reverse-split cam will work well with stock heads. You can see dyno sheets of the 224R and 228R cams in my SS HERE. FYI, the 350 RWHP on the 224R graph is with an unlocked converter and through the SLP dual/dual cat-back, the 360 RWHP is with an unlocked converter and open cutout, and the 379.9 RWHP is with an open cutout and locked converter. I apologize for not having a better graph on the 228R cam. It only gives the MPH on the x-axis instead of the RPM's. I don't know why the shop that dynoed them did that. The 369 RWHP with the 228R is with an open cutout and unlocked converter. I did not have a way to lock my converter that day, but it should put down right around 388 RWHP or so with it locked up. Keep in mind that these graphs are from an automatic, not a six-speed. You have more parasitic loss through a 4L60E than you do a T-56; the difference is 4-5%. So, that would put the same setup in the 405-410 RWHP with stock heads in an M6.
We will have a dyno of our 228/224 very soon...hopefully by next week. We will post it up as soon as we have it.
Let me know if you have any questions!

Would something like the Texas Speed 228R be about the biggest and roughest cam I could get without having to rev to 6800 or more RPM to make good power?

I have a 2000SS M6. Mods so far, Bilstein suspension, SLP Cat Back, SLP Air box lid, Smooth Bellows, K&N air filter, 160' thermostat, Hypertech Power tune (PPIII) (Hypertech is a waste of money)... I plan on getting a MAF, Throttle body, and LS6 intake. Also a set of 4:10's.
How are the SLP Cams 559' 566' 267' 275
Or the GM Hot cam 525/525 218' 227' lsa 112
Comp 563/563 222/222 LSA 112.
I am looking for mid range gains, slightly lopy idle and to pull around 420 HP...
Also instead of replacing the cam, using the crane 1.8 rockers, would there be any significant power gains????

I would say do the TR224 cam it has a nice idle, but it will not work in combination with 1.8 rockers due to the fast ramp on the cam.
But that would be a good cam for you.. fairly aggressive, but certainly not the rawest cam out there.
