Default Ex. to In. ratio

How do you come up with the exhaust to intake ratio?
Also, is it anything under 400ci should try to see a 75%?

Any help would be appreciated,

Thank you.

Hey guys,

Anyone know how to figure the exhaust to intake ratio?

Is it as simple as comparing flow numbers at certain amounts of lift?

Look at the intake and exhaust flow #s at the same lift. Seems people like to see 70-75%

You divide the Intake flow into the exhaust flow. You will then see what kind of cam to use. If the ratio is around 75% use a single pattern cam, if it is lower start looking at splits with more exhaust lobe and vice-versa on above. That is what I look at on the ratio and the importance of knowing it. So if you have some heads that have a kicking exhaust port but the intake is not as good then start looking at cams like 230/224 just as an example.
