Castrol Syntec? What weight of oil goes in a 2000 SS that came from the factory with the Castrol Syntec option? 10w-30 10w-40 5w-30? If not one of these which one? Also this is synthetic correct?

NO one ever told me - I looked at the OIL - it is for racing and the car is only used once in awhile - pushed hard. The car has an LS6 modified oil pump and I did not think it would hurt but maybe I better rethink it.

The Castro 5w-30 is hydrocracked dino oil. In other words it is not a true synthetic. It is Group III oil. The German Syntec is sold as Castrol SLX in Europe and it is a Group IV (PAO)/Group V (Ester) blend. It is a true synthetic. The bottom line is that you will get lower wear from using German Castrol as confirmed by oil analysis.
