"Factory LS1 pistons are made by MAHLE"

I was going to say that.

"Circle Track magazine interviewed some big-name racing team engine builder last year and he was praising Mahle pistons also, particularly the ringland machining precision and how little hand prep he has to do on them."

Yeah that's Kieth Dorton of Automotive Specialits. They make Hooters Cup motors for the most part and his brother his Randy Dorton who's the head cheese at Hendrick's Engine Shop.

Mahle makes some extremely good pistons, the forged race pistons are expensive but very good.

Good info - I'll check Mahle out myself - sounds like they may be well worth a serious look for future developments.

I know that a lot of the top drag racing engines are running CP Pistons, especially in Pro Stock - CP are also considered superior to JE and were used on a certain 388 SB Ford that cranked out over 1000hp on carbs and gas (no nitrous or boost and possibly a world record). That little carby engine is now knocking on the 6's in A/D class.

Yeah got them over to MTI and they said the very same thing along with the other shop I went to said excelent pistons. The rod from the Ebay are made by Hawk racing. They look like an Eagle knock off and are pretty nice really. The machinist at MTI said they look like they were made by CAT out of california.

I have recently rebuilt my motor with Mahle pistons (std) and Hawk Racing H-beam rods (6.125"), both from Raceparts. I have to commend Raceparts for their excellent customer service. They had a little inventory issue when I placed my order with them but they handled it very quickly and very much to my satisfaction. Also have been on the phone a couple times with them for technical questions and they were very helpful. Anyway, the shortblock is together and I'll be putting the rest of it together this week. As soon as the tranny shows up I'll have them in the car and running. I'm excited to see how it goes.

Picked it up today from MTi they had to do a little machine work on the rods, but they got it done right and looks good after it was put together. Well see how it holds up under the presure of boost.

Guys, being German pistons you should know the quality's built in. German engineering is highly respected over here. The mahle stuff is also found in a fair few cosworths and lots of other high revving stuff. Some of their pistons for the road have metal expansion strips by the bosses to keep the pistons round when they are cold and this adds weight which I don't like but they are a good product and often tefloned to. I'd use them without hesitation.

We are a stocking distributor for Mahle's LS1 pistons, and we can get any of their other pistons if you're looking for a different application. We are building up a 402 cid LS2 for our C6 that will be using Mahle pistons. The majority of our strokers are built using their pistons, too. Feel free to call or e-mail us for pricing and various applications. We do have them listed on our website with retail pricing, and the prices include pins AND rings! We also offer price-matching.

We want to build a 402 cid LS2 because that is what is most popular among our customers. We want to show customers what type of potential you have with a 402 cid. Larger cubes via resleeving a block is a fun setup, but they are much less popular than a 402 cid because of the added cost. Darton now offers up to a 4.20" bore in an LS1 block, so we'd go quite a bit larger than a 427 cid if we ever resleeved. A solid-roller 443 cid has crossed our minds more than once for our '98 Z28.
