232/236 cam ok with these heads?
My cam is an XE-R 232/236 .585/.585 113lsa set on 0 degrees of advance. My question is will this cam be to big for the motor since I am on a stock shortblock with NO flycutting?
I will not flycut the pistons so that is out of the question. I keep hearing conflicting advise on yes and no from many people. Any help would be great!
I will be useing the crane duals to avoid floating.
Thanx! ~Eddie

1- degree the cam
2- Clay to get a clearer picture (both intake and exhaust)
3- The best way is to use a dial indicator (in general clay readings are .02 off (+) than dial readings.)
IMO I wouldn't go with less than a .10 int & .12 exht clearance on any cam. These are street engines, not track only.
Some will tell you I'm running .08 etc... untill the day. If a spring brakes, (even a double) the valve will sag a little, but this is up to you.

Were you watching at TEA? If so, you were probably watching me install a set of heads on my car.
It was a black 00' SS M6.
I flycut the pistons .060", and had approx. .125" of clearance. This was with a 2.055 int and 1.60 exh valve.
The cam was a Comp 232/236 .580/.580 on a 110 LSA, and 108 ICL. I had Comp grind it on thier Renegade lobes, which are the lobes the NMRA Renegade class racers use......needless to say it was pretty frickin nasty!
