So do the cam grinding sponsors on this board do much R&D or is it up to me to do the donkey work? Do they know what combos work?

I am not sure about what dropping the LSA as far as 106 will offer as opposed to a 110
J-ROD...apparently you are familiar with driving these cams. Could you give me an analysis on the performance/behavioural thing please?
A 110 won't pass emmisions so that's not the reason folks don't go all the way to a 106.
You have the gen3 stack injectors, so you are running Speed density like the folks in Australia. You can run anything and as long as the SD tune is correct in the car. I drove a few cars in Australia with narrow LSA cams. Drivability wasn't an issue. As I have said before, don't get hung up on LSA.

The key things to focus on is cylinder head flow with the intake in place.

From there you determine what your RPM window is, and goals for the car.

From there you determine duration and valve events.

LSA is a byproduct of those events and falls out the bottom...

Excellent statement J-Rod. What I always love is when someone tells somebody to stay away from big cams without having ever owned one also.

Tommy, forgedaboutit. Keep on asking away.

Tommy it looks like you "ve gotten some good responses on your question,I still think a 224 to 230 single pattern cam with about .575 lift and a 110 LDA would be about what you are looking for.If you go for a lot more duration say the 240ish you will lose that midrange blast you want,it will pick up on the top but really to about 7k plus. One guy mentioned a 230,.560ish,110 cam you could always experiment with the ICL(advance=low-end,retard=top-end).

7K!!
Yeh, can't afford a new motor every year!
But I can live with a crappy low end because the car weighs so little.
Let's face it I'm going to have to buy a couple of cams and try them both aren't I!!!
