i think you should search this topic..no one is going to let it all out in the open as patriot is still a sponser and there is no need for a thread bashing war, which is what will get started with questions like these..if you want to know the skinny, i suggest you call up the companies who are not carrying these anymore and ask them personally..then perhaps call patriot and ask them what kind of guarantee or service they offer..this would be the civil way.. sorry to hear about your problems, hope you get things going

Can you clarify "droped a valve and messed up everything in my new motor"?
Just wondering how the valve actually dropped. Spring?
Sorry about your motor.

I agree totally. This is getting out of hand. If u want to modify your car than accept things going wrong sometimes. If u want no problems. Keep it stock.

Ummm, while I do agree that if you are modding your car you have to expect some hiccups, 30 miles???? If everything was installed correctly, I would contact the manufacturer. IMHO

Yea sorry about your deal.....I have my fingers crossed myslef.

Some more info would be nice,

What cam your running?
What where your RPM's when it happened...?
Who installed the heads....and where they installed with the motor in the car or out??
M6 or A4?
LS6 Head or 5.3 or LS1?
Used heads or new?
Head gaskets new or the old ones or aftermarket??
Valve Clearances checked during the install?
Head bolts stock, or aftermarket?
What pushrods where installed?

I know that is a bunch of quesitons, Just trying to gather some info to be proactive.

I have the Patriot Sage 2 LS1 cast for the 98/97 LS1
Installed the heads with engine out..
New GM gaskets
New head bolts that came with the heads
Hardened pushrods
Didn't check the valve clearances with my cam
I have about 500 miles on my heads right now and 28 passes at the track, back to back passes....

Worried, yes I am worried about the heads and the flow, but like mentioned above there is some risk and who knows what goes on when the heads are on the motor, the flow could be so bad it's good??

I really want to see them pics... maybe PM them to me if you get time..... Probably alot of customers waiting to see.

Thanks
Like I said I feel for you and I really have my fingers crossed......

ok i will try to cover all the questions
it droped a valve because the valve head the big end cracked at the stem and broke off fell down on the piston and busted a huge hole in the piston
when that happens it will suck the oil out of the pan and pull it up through the intake putting all the metal from the piston in the other cylenders
both heads was beat to hell all the pistons junk and the steal cylender sleve was opened up like a pop can

i was running a TSP custom cam valve clearance was huge i had diamond pistons in it all new stuff new gaskets and all arp head studs
all installed out of the car by myself i own the shop where it was done
it happened just as i came out of the burn out about 6500 rpm

I don't think this is called for. Plenty of people have no problems.

Summit is carrying Patriot Heads now. Their prices look pretty cheap ($995 for stageII 5.7L heads without a core charge). Maybe TSP cant compete with Summit's prices and thats why they quit carrying them. Its hard to compete against a high volume outfit.

That is for the 97-98 perimeter heads.TSP as well as all of the retailers sold for the same price.Price has nothing to do with it.

Terry

So you are agreeing with TSP that your heads are junk and thats why they quit carrying them? Im just kidding.

Too bad the $995 heads are the old style. At that price itd be a bargain.

All you need to do is find a set valve covers and coil packs off a 97 C5, 98 Z28/TA or C5 then it will work. I don't know how much $$ all that extra stuff is..... but you can use them... It is just the valve covers that are perimeter bolts... The heads bolt to the motor the same way the 99-02's do.

To the best of my knowledge anyway

Guys, I think that there are 2 sides to every story, If terry wants to have a surtin companys head on his car, then thats his business, not ours, I think that if there is a problem with Patriot heads then something needs to be done, but until we know more info, i would take it up with Patriot, unless you can find some other means.
