Can I mix 5W-30 with 10W-30 ?
I'm gonna change my oil in a few days. I usually run Syn 10W-30, but was thinkin about mixing it 50/50 with some Syn 5w-30 cuz the Owner's manual recommends 5W-30.
My car burns a quart per oil change with all 5W-30, and none with 10W-30..I was thinkin the 50/50 mix might be a good idea...is it?

There is simply no need to mix 5w30 and 10w30, stick with the 10w30 in warm weather, and 5w30 for the cold. Or better yet, try out Mobil 1's 0w40 instead. Despite the 0w rating, it's thicker at 40 celcius than 5w30 and 10w30 Mobil 1.

Go with all 10W-30 if your car is not burning any. Mobil 1's 5W-30 and 10W-30 oils are almost exactly the same when at operating temp. 9.7 cst and 9.8 cst. The 5W-30 has better cold weather properties but would only make a difference at 0 deg and below. 10W-30 M1 will still pump at -49 below zero!!!!
