Do the 2001 LS6 springs need shims to mate to the LS1 valve seats?
I have a set of 2003 springs and 2003 seats that came with a new CNC ported LS6 head ...there are no shims on these units. However, when you see the picture of the complete SDPC Hot Cam kit, (see cite location below), it appears to have shimms ...the Hot Cam kit has 2001 LS6 springs, however....
My LS6 springs and Seats will be donated to a friend who has a Hot Cam but no springs/seats....I will use Lunati REV doubles with the LS6 heads...
We are wondering if he installed the 2003 LS6 springs in his 2000 F-body and used the LS1 stock spring seats that are in his car now, would he need shimms?
Also, if he will install the cam and springs with the heads in the car, is it more diffucult to also replace the spring seats (e.g., replace both the springs and seats with the 2003 units while the heads are in the car)?
I assume the LS1 and LS6 heads will accept both LS1 and LS6 spring seats...Are these spring seats inter-changeable between heads?
Thanks.....

...the color of my LS6 springs are pea green (Uhk!)...
Does this mean they are 2002 LS6 springs? What color are the 2001 LS6 springs?

This is the description of the heads from the SDPC web page. It says the heads come with NEW 2002 LS6 springs...
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
LS6 CNC Ported Assembled Aluminum Cylinder Heads
Price: $985.00
Part # 88958622
Best buy on the planet! Unbelievable performance from fully CNC ported cylinder heads. Some of the best low and mid-lift numbers we have ever seen from a stock size valve. These heads will flow over 200cfm at 0.300" lift and 290+ at 0.500". Fully assembled with the 2002 Z06 light-weight valves and the new '02 valve springs. These heads have been milled 0.055" to bring the combustion chambers back down to approximately 60cc. Care must taken to check pushrod length and proper intake installation when using these cylinder heads. Price is for each cylinder head.

The confusion continues I guess! Green=2001 ?!?!

Thanks for trying to straighten this out.
Maybe I'll wind up getting the Hotcam kit anyways, since no one sells the cam only... I am looking for a used one, but I have not found one yet.

The 2001 springs were light blue and the 2002 springs were yellow, but this only held true for production parts. Now it seems like they are all different colors. Also, for 2002, the LS1 heads started using the one piece seal/seat like the LS6. I had heard that the one piece seat was thicker than the two piece, but I cannot confirm this.

Both of my sets of 02 LS6 heads have had yellow springs and the 01 sets that I have seen have always had blue springs..
Never seen green.. (yellow and blue makes green) <img border="0" title="" alt="[Confused]" src="images/icons/confused.gif" />
