what piston rings are you guys using?
FB,
funny, i was just reading you're "freshen up" thread and saw the problems you were having. sucks but at least i know not to go w/ those total seals. ;D thanks for posting that. do you plan on spraying it too?

Nope..my spraying days are long since over. I'm running OEM pistons and high compression now
i've also heard many good things about low tension oil rings for track use. Jud was using this ring in the orange SAM car and picked up a supposed 20HP gain over a regular moly ringset. basically looking for some comprable setups. what do you guys think?

I'm right now in the process of changing to diamond pro-select filefit rings in mine.

No evidence of oil coming up from the bottom (edges of rings very clean)
1. Custom Wiseco 11.25:1 forged aluminum pistons measuring 4.060" diameter &
2. Childs & Albert Plasma Moly piston ring set
These piston rings are not the ones you guys are having oil usage problems with are they?
Also, my motor was built to stay N/A. Are these pistons and rings a good choice for my application?
Thanks,

Kevin,
you cant use old style rings in the LS1 ring grooves. Diamond uses the standard LS1 style ring setup. 1.5, 1.5, 3.0mm. SBC's are a little off. ;D

Oil consumption is either a valve seal problem or a ring problem... I have found that it is mandatory to cut the valve guides down when using high lift cam profiles... If the guides have not been cut down, then there is a good chance the valve retainers would hit the seals and damaged them. (end Quote)
Do you guys agree then that on any given motor that is consuming oil, if the oil is not being consumed b/c of the rings, then the oil must being used on the top end b/c of a valve seal problem? THat is what i have been told and led to believe.
THanks for your feedback,
