Afr 230cc Heads Now Available From Ape
Well guy's, the boy's over at ET Performance have finished up the final cnc program for AFR 230cc cylinder heads. This heads are designed to be used on a big bore engine, 4.000 + bore. We only have a few sets available right now. These heads have 2.080/1.600" valves in them and were flowed on a 4.000 bore with a radius inlet. The exhaust was flowed without a pipe. Chamber volume comes out to be 72cc when we are done. This can be altered a bit to taylor to your exact needs. These heads will make big power and will be a perfect choice for a large inch LS1 engine. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us.

Chris, I have a question....
With this 230cc head, isnt that defeating the purpose of the 205cc runner? Wouldnt a ported LS6 head flow the same given the runner volume or is the AFR port a completely different shape? I thought the whole purpose of the 205 head was ot keep the port small and the velocity up.
Im asking this based on a stock CI motor because I see these are for a larger bore.

These heads were geared up more for the larger displacement engines with a 4 inch to 4.125 bore, the flow numbers are greater on the 4.125 bore. These will fill the gaps between a ls6 and a c5r. These are not in the same bracket as the 205 head. We were asked to supply a cylinder head that would be durable enough to work on a 1600 hp turbo or supercharged engine while being able to support the higher horsepower naturally asperated combos. The 205 cc heads may have high velocity and good numbers for the size, but wont even come close to our ported 5.3 head. They have been tested by a lot of our dealers and prove to us that flow numbers are not in direct coorolation with power and acceleration. There becomes a time in a port where velocity becomes too high and overcomes its own good. As far as the cost goes, remember that these castings alone cost as much as a good ported stock head, the ports start out the size of a peanut. then with the parts added to it, ok that leaves less than 1000 dollars for porting. We will post the pictures and quality of the machine work will speak for itself. Just remember, We have all seen recently, you get what you pay for...
