Just kidding...
I know of a few people that are making great numbers with these heads and are not having any issues at all. I still wish there was some database somewhere that would compare failure rates against other heads. I want to see the numbers. I think that would stop this bashing cold.

anything thats as mass marketed like the PP heads are is undoubtedly going to have more failure rates due to the sheer volume of quantiy. is that an excuse, no, but compair a fair ratio. and PP isnt the first or last company to have problems with various issues. being the search **** that i am i've run across old threads of vendors here who everyone praises, having problems with there heads. not to the extent that PP had (seat dropping), but no company is w/o incident. i wouldnt buy a pair of PP heads myself, springs are great though .

also that HP program is pretty worthless in my opinion. there are way to many variables in a combo. yes heads can play a big difference but heads arent the end all be all of a combo. plenty of people have made great power with shitty heads, so to just blame the heads for low numbers isnt fair either. its all in the combo and tune.

JRP, I agree with you. That is why I would like to see a "rate" comparison, a percentage. I don't know anyone that doesn't want a bargain. But I see a lot of people say "you get what you pay for". Is that ALWAYS the case? No... Sometimes it sparks competition. Which is a good thing.
I hope I fall into the "no problem" section. But I will not loose sleep over it. In fact, I expect things to break. The more I mod, the more things will. Time will tell.

P.S. I do drive a Honda and ride a Honda.

putting all quality issues aside, they seem like a great set of heads. the flow #s are ok and you can stuff a bigass cam in there. there is also the low price and no core. had it not been for the quality stuff going on i would be in the market to buy some now, but have been looking at PRC S2.5 5.3. assuming PP quality issues are non-existant, i might consider them again when the time comes to buy. i just need some reassurance from the vendor and users of the product so lets see come big numbers and fast e.t.s.

Agreed, some flow numbers would be nice. Though doesn't guarantee great performance numbers, it does say something about them.

Winman has the flow numbers at work, I think he said he's gonna bring it home tomorrow and post it here. They were flowed on Thunder's bench, which Jason said does tend to flow a bit low. However, the numbers were nearly dead on the whole way up, there were no major variances at any point. We can't compare the exhaust flow because Patriot uses a pipe.

here is the thing guys...... still no flow sheets yet. I will get them to yall though. I wont be back to work until next week. I am just able to get out of bed now with my surgery. I got my PP heads at first because I bought them before the "bubble" of horror stories were floating around. I knew they had problems a few years ago and most people said they were fixed. With the horror stories starting to float, I got very concerned with my purchase. I had numerous places look them over. I even had them polished on the combustion chamber and exhaust port. Therefore the valves were taken out. The porter I used said he could find nothing wrong with them. When I bought my heads, I knew they were not the best things for performance. I was willing to sacrafice some HP for the WAY much cheaper price. For $1700 I got heads, bolts, gaskets, and no core charge. That is a very nice price. Right now, I have no regrets performance wise with my numbers. I am using them for a street car that does not see the drag strip. I just enjoy the hell out of slappin rice around. My only concerns are with the reliability of the parts. Valve seals are good, springs are good, and you cant get any better than super 7 locks without spending serious money. This leaves the casting and the valves. I think the casting will be ok but the valves concerns me. Anyone can get a bad batch of parts, patriot, manley, comp etc. The metal could be off spec. Who knows. I do think I will be ok with the valves though. There are lots of heads out there that do work flawlessly. It will be interesting though to see if these things continue to work as well as they are doing right now. If I were building a track only car to compete with. I would not buy these heads. When every HP counts I would not rely on them. But if you are willing to have some inconsistancy then they may not be a bad choice. And I know that there are some cars which do not perform well at all with PP heads. That 375hp link comes to mind. If that truely is the heads fault then I would 100% say that it is not acceptable. However, mine work great!

ok, no more book. glad to answer anyones questions.

Hey for all of you people that say PP heads suck, man are you "******* WRONG" I built my 427 for my Vett and it has PP LS6 stage III heads with a T-REX and with a base tune it put down 560rwhp@6500 RPM cam still pulling hard rasing limiter after tune and break in to 7000rpm, and 601 rwtq at 4600rpm peak. this is with a 12.1 AFR pig rich and 24 degres of timing will post graph after tune and a couple of miles break in. NOT BAD FOR 1695.00 HEADS, WHY PAY MORE

I just recieved a chart to help this thread out a little...This is a set of their LS-6 heads with a 'newer' chamber design to help the flow a bit. 2.055/1.57 valves, on a SF600 bench @ 28" H2O with a 3.9" bore.

.100___69.1___64.7
.200__139.0__107.6
.300__200.4__150.4
.400__252.9__184.3
.500__286.0__207.2
.550__295.1__213.6
.600__304.6__218.8

Look @ the .400 to .500 numbers. They're purty durn good. These numbers are from after a requested .035" milling (55cc). I'll have the chart from prior to milling to compare soon. The exhaust side leaves something to be desired. And with 2.055 Int. valves, I was expecting more, but for $1600 with no core required, that isn't bad at all. I'll have another 10hrs into these ASAP. I'll have the 'finished' graph of the heads and also through a highly modded LS-2 intake posted ASAP. I should've opted for larger exhaust valves...Another 12cfm on the exhaust side on my dynosim is showing a lot more top-end power.

Here are a couple other vendors to sort of compare. No vendor or supplier should have any reason to bitch about the comparison here as these were all recently posted by different users here on the board. I'm just grouping them together to compare head to head as closure to the questioning in the thread. These are independant-advertized numbers are not of any importance:

AFR 205's / 2.02/1.6 valves / performed by AbsoluteSpeed:

.100___xx___xx
.200__140__xxx
.300__203__xxx
.400__243__xxx
.500__278__xxx
.550__290__xxx
.600__298__xxx

TEA Stage 2.5 LS-6 / 2.055/1.55 valves / performer unknown:

.100___69.8___55.0
.200__141.6__111.6
.300__205.3__165.7
.400__260.2__228.2
.500__297.1__249.0
.550__313.0__253.7
.600__323.2__257.8
.650__336.5__xxx

My friend just put these on his 02 Z06 car and gained only 10 rwhp after tuning. Needless to say he was expecting more. BTW my car and his are modded exactly the same except for the heads-I gained 24RWHP without the proper tuned.

I didn't bother to read what most of you guys said ( :o ), but I wanted to say this. If you buy PP cylinder heads and think you have a good chance at making the same power numbers as somebody who spent top dollar on a set of cylinder heads, you've got another thing coming.

He made 437 hitting the stock rev limiter on a **** tune. The cam will pull to 6800. He should be at least to 450 once everything is worked out and Allan gets his hands on the car.

Not that I bought a set thinking such, but I've seen it well more than once...A custom cam taylored to a set of heads can do any head justice. I've seen some shitty A.S. results, and I've seen excellent PP results. It's the combo. Sure, the heads are a factor in the combo, but there's more to it...Cam only results in the 420's??? Even shitty port-work could bring them to 440+

I agree 100% with the last post "A custom cam taylored to a set of heads can do any head justice". I had the cam doctor go over my comp cam 228/230 .571/.573 and he said it would be perfect for my stock LS6 heads. The result speak for themselves 423/400 cam only. These #'s are what most guys get with LG G5X3 cam in a Z06-i have yet to see these #'s in a F-bod. The cam is the heart of the engine.
