I've read all the posts about this setup and for no one actually having it, there are entirely too many **** talkers.

Has anyone ACTUALLY bought and installed this setup, whether it be the short block or just the rotating assembly. Has it met SLP's expectations in the real world, has it failed. What do the real owners, if there are any, think of this setup?

If you don't have it, or don't know anyone that has it, I don't want to hear from you about how SLP has screwed you in the past or how an air lid doesn't fit 100% correctly.

Its still pretty new... Chances are that even if someone here has bought the package already, its probably not assembled yet, and almost certainly not in the car yet. Give it a month or two and hopefully people will post some results. The drawback is that SLP picked a pretty crappy time to release this. Theyre a day late and a dollar short. Assuming that you can balance your own rotating assembly, you can build an LS2 aluminum block 402 for about the same price, but save yourself a ton of weight.

I should say however that if youre doing forced induction, huge HP, or plan on spraying the everloving crapola out of the motor, the iron block is a good idea - however now some of the components SLP uses may not be good enough.

I would not buy one of the first production runs. It is better to wait until they have a few out there before you buy. Why be a test mule for SLP?

 

The complete lack of ANY warranty whatsoever is enough to keep me away, especially with so many builders that stand behind their product 100%.

 

The engine has only been offered for less than 3-4 months. I doubt anyone will have a full report on this setup until probably next year sometime..
