Checking on noise after head/cam swap
Well, she fired. Idle is poor at best, but it runs. I hear a pretty loud ticking noise coming from the engine however. I installed a cam with the following specs:
222/218 .581/.562
I made sure to crank the motor by hand to make sure there were no PtV clearance issues and to make sure I had the timing right. All was fine.
Is this a normal sound? I know its hard for you all to answer without hearing it yourselves but I would appreciate any help you can offer.
Thanks!!

I can't find that cam on their website. If it's a smaller base circle cam, probably is, you'd need 7.40 pr's.
p.s. By stock length pushrod, did you mean stock pushrod or 7.35? Because if you install 7.40's and really need 7.35's there's your noise.

If the noise is on initial start up that is normal and actually, after my first cam install, I thought I f*K ^p the whole thing, but it eventually got quieter and quieter.
Stock p-rods are 7.38 (Mine) so with a smaller base aftermarket cam 7.4 should do it. Of course depending on the ramp rate, some cams really sound like a sewing machine.
