Sorry to hear about your motor that looks very nasty! I have a longblock LS1 out of my 98 Z28 that was recently a total loss. I have been parting it out locally and have yet to put it on the LSx boards. If interested let me know I am in Miami Fl. A buddy of mine was unable to buy the motor locally so I still have it with trans and computer.

thanks, i'll keep youguys posted about that motor offers, kinda low on funds right now. i'm not to worried about my stroker motor just yet i guess thats all gonna depend on wether on not a beater motor is gonna be cheaper enough to throw to gether and drop in, or I'll push forward towards the stroker. 427 would be nice, just got to find a nice sonic tested LQ4 that would be able to hadnle that, but will see what happens

there is a guy in Spartanburg, SC that owns a shop called PAR. people bring aluminum donovan race blocks down there that are just blown into pieces and he pretty much just reconstructs them and from what he and the customers say its just as good if not better then when it was new. however ls1 blocks are so cheap you'd pry be better off just getting new one. that sucks though.

Question What caused this?

I see notches in your pistons, were these exhaust side only? Did valve break off and cause this? Did you blow head gasket and cause bent /broken rod from hydraulic condition?

You kind of got me thinking about trying out my 250rwhp jets now on my stock bottom end. If only I knew it wouldn't take the heads out! That would be kinda cool though to destroy one like that

well you know it's hard to say considering all the different things that happened.. No blown head gasket, yes the exh valve was hitting the piston for how long i'm not sure. I've been running that came for almost 2 yrs. and it's been fine ever since , no knock or nothin. My Manely spring might have become week from excessive turning of 7300rpm. but whats weird is that the valve head broke off so the means it was pretty much wide open when the piston hit it. so the rod might have broke , or hyper-extended. or the valve stem could have bent and held open etc etc. but then what about the other side. theres no piston and the valve and head are fine from that side. the side with the big hole #8 either same thing happened and it just didn't cause any damage to the head, i dont know. so i might i have just snapped the rods. i haven't really look into the motor very much to find any stress any where other then the last 2 piston the motor turns and feels good and crank is still in perfect condition, but in picture 4 you can see the cylinder#8 piston on the floor next to the motor it's split in have, #7 disintegrated and was all up in the intake manifold. so i dont know , and i wasn't spraying the NOS either. i hadn't done that for awhile. motor was running pretty good. and then just all off a sudden went.

Yeah i wasn't spraying at the time. and hadn't for awhile. but when it blew it blew hard. it went when i was on the freeway, good thing it was 300am in the morning. i redlined first and hit 2nd mid way through second starting to let off b/c i was already doing about 100. she went, smoke everywhere, couldn't seen nothin. i was all over the freeway , sliding from the oil pouring out of the motor. it's not any better either when your on BFG drags, finally gain controll of her and coasted her to the side. Suck big time, oil , coolant, peices of metal were falling out everywhere when i came to a stop. the trail of oil from when it happen is still there to remind me of what happen everytime i'm coming back from my ladies house
