Default Question: Can the rotating assembly be balanced....

Can I get the rotating assembly balanced with a C5 crankpulley? I have one handy. I will not be using it on my car, it will be used just to have the rotating assembly balanced if it can be used.
Thanks,
Jeremy

I'm sure somebody more experienced will chime in but logic tells me this would not be a good idea.

no positive but I think you want to make sure you use the crankpulley that is going on the car or things will be out of whack when you go slap a different pulley on there.

Thanks for the reply.
I am thinking it would be alright since the vette LS1 and F-body LS1 is identical internally. I hope someone else can shed some light on this one.
thanks,
Jeremy

The LS1 or LS6 is internally balanced. You shouldn't need a pulley to balance it.

As long as the pulley is balanced, you shouldnt have a problem. Although the C5 pulley is closer to the motor, so I'm not sure how the accessories will line up.

Thanks for the help StevieZ. I am just going by what my engine builder told me to provide him to balance the motor. He said I needed the flexplate and crankpulley. This is his first LS1 engine build. He has no expirence with them. Joe Prince told me he would help him out with the technical questions that he might have. JPR rocks Now lets hope JPR relocates to Albuquerque closer to home so he can open a kick *** business over here where its needed, east coasters have it too easy.

Brad I wasn't going to use the pulley on my car just to balance the rotating assembly but now know that its not needed.
Thanks,
Jeremy

When I bought my stroker crank from Lunati I already had the Lunati forged pistons and Pro Billet rods. I gave them the weight of each piston and the rotating and reciprocating weights of each rod and they balanced the crank for free; no pistons, no rods, no flywheel/flexplate, no pulley. It is all done with bob weights based on the weights I mentioned above. Sweeeeeet. Beats spending $250-300 for a balance job.
