TSP 231/237 Cam question for stock head-bolt on LS1's
I am thinking of switching to this cam. I'd like to know what MPH gain you've seen with your bolt on LS1 with stock heads. Not sure if I want to go with the TR 224/224 or go up a step to this.
I have a 2001 M6 WS6 with Mac headers, ORY and 4.10 gears and currently have a Comp Xtreme 212/218 cam that's given me a best on drag radials of 12.37 @ 114.67 but my car has gone 11.92 @ 117 with my Boyfriend driving it on Nitto's full weight. I already have Manley springs with titanium retainers and hardened pushrods.
Thanks in advance

If you go with the 231/237, you will either want to port the primaries on the MAC headers(if they are shorties or mid length) or move to long tubes. you'll definitely appreciate the boost in horsepower. the cam will still make sick horsepower on the MAC's, but lt's will give you a lil bump. i think you'll love the 231/237 w/the six speed and 4.10's, with a good tune she'll be nice and driveable. i've done a lot of research into this cam, and right down its down to this cam, or a futral motorsports f14 variant. you'll love the top end....she'll put you into the mid 11's easy.

Thanks for the info, I know I have mids on the Mac's we may have to do that I am not going to change to LT's anytime soon. I am also wanting to stay in the low 12's area (12.0) if I can in muggy or cooler Florida temps but wanting to not get kicked off the track because I don't want a cage in yet either. I'd reallly like to see what MPH has been seen with this cam.
I do have a track here in FL that will allow me to run to 11.50 without a cage too. If I have to back out of it at the 1000' at home that's not so bad either until I get a cage.
I thought about spraying a small shot w/ the cam I have now, but I really want to stick to a drag radial on Welds.
Decisions!

Well if you put this cam in, you'll definitely have to back off of it. She'll put you sub 12.0 almost for sure if you're running consistent 12.3xs. Not that thats such a bad thing

I found a sound clip posted by Jason at Texas Speed with a rumbler catback.....I can only imagine what it'd sound like with my Corsa that is loud now!
But in Dec we rented that good track where I cut consistent 1.7 60's on 17" Nittos and my stock wheels, but hope to cut a 1.6 60' on a 15" Nitto with Welds and skinnies.....there if I go below 11.5 with this new cam I will be in 7th heaven.
Then order a roll cage

Ran a 12.60@109 {1.90 60ft} with a LID, UD Pulley, 4.10 and BFG DRs. Installed the 231/237, a set of LT headers and OR Y-pipe, it picked up to a 12.40@116.5 {1.80 60ft} in great weather. At the time, it was bad rich,,, no tuning.
Got it tuned and welded in a cutout,,,,, picked up nearly 20HP over untuned. My next times were in crappy weather. Best was a 12.23@114.43mph. Please remember I still have a LS1 intake also.
Not too awfull bad considering that my car really isn't set-up for the 1/4 mile stuff.

racer88, I went to Moroso on Wednesday night. I ran 13's all night in my convertible. I printed out the new NHRA rules about the Pure Stock class and brought them with me. During tech inspection I handed them the "new" rules. They had a discussion and they agreed to let me run in the 13's all night...but no 12's. Well, staying in the 13's was not a problem (unfortunately) but if we all keep at 'em we may be able to get them to change the rules to what the NHRA agrees upon.

It's a low 12 second car now, I think I am going to keep my current set up. I haven't seen anyone post any 11.8 runs yet with MPH more than what I can do now with a smaller cam. If it ain't broke, don't fix it I guess. Heads will be an alternative later on down the road, for now it's running really good.

I am going to keep what I have. I have ET'd very well with this cam I currently have now. It's proven with 116-117 traps on a good 60' for what it is as small as it is without any lope.
Thanks for the info on it, but ET should change once I get a skinnie on front and a 15" drag on back seeing I easily cut 1.7's on my 17" Nitto's now.
