Default ? - Cam/Springs/Seats

Hey,

I recently purchased a ls1 hotcam kit (dont flame). It comes with the 2001 ls6 valve springs (Blue), and copper colored spring seats/shims.

I have read that if you have a 2002 model, the valve seals and the seats are combined into one unit, and are the same height as the seats that come in the hotcam kit.

This is the thing, I have a 2002 Silverado with a 4.8L, would I have to use the seats that came with the hotcam kit or could I use my factory ones?

Thanks in advance.

Hey yo,

I mines a 2000 4.8, and I found that my spring seats were different. I used my dial calipers to measure them both and I remember them being about 0.040" different. I'm not sure of the internal differences between 2000 and 2002. It might just be one of those things you'll have to see onces you tear into it.

Theoretically if the heads are the same between 00' and 02', then you can take your combined seat/seals off and just use the new ones. You have to remove the seals anyway to get to the seats. Good luck!

I just measured the stock seats and they're .0350" thick. I can't measure the LS6 ones, cuz they're on the truck. I don't know if that will help now, but it will once you tear into it, and see what your stockers measure.

Sorry for the double post.
