Lightest LS1/LS6 Valves?

Default Lightest LS1/LS6 Valves?

What are the lightest LSx valves available on the market (Besides titanium).

Goal is to have a light valvetrain
Tit retainers
Tit seats
918 springs
Valve ??????

My goal is to achieve at or lighter than 120 gr / valve assembly

Brian Tooley at TEA posted wts for valvetrain related compnents a while back,maybe do a search or look up all post started by Brian.P.S. it was about 3 or 4 monthes ago.Good luck!!

Hmm, according to this with LS6 valves, 918's, Tit ret, super 7 ... the best i can come up with is 158.7g of moving parts /intake assembly.

I only count half the weight of the spring as part of the moving "system", since the top of the spring moves as much as the valve and the bottom of the spring does not move at all (hopefully). Does that make sense? Its my own theory, and when you think about a beehive spring, the top half of the spring has less mass then the bottom half, since the top half is smaller in diameter and the bottom half is bigger in diameter. Hope this helps.

So in your opinion, what is the moving mass of the LS6/918/tit ret/S7 locks ?
If you guess at 1/2 weight of spring so 158.7 - 35.1 = ~ 122.6
would i be right in assuming so?/

If using LS6 valves, is there any limitation as far as ported heads, or the size of the cam ? I understand that I'd have to use custom pushrods to make the geometry right...but is there anything else I should look for ?

Well, with LS6 valves and aftermarket cam then 7.4 prods OK
if LS6 valves and stock LS1 cam then 7.35

Other than that I think the valve job LS1/LS6 is the same, or at least interchangeable.(valve seats)
