i ran the 921's, they are a great set of springs!!
i tried the revs this time around, but will probably be going back to comps, but with the cam he has i think a good set of PP or similar springs will do fine for im, and save him hundres

Maybe for BBC, but for an LS1??? Forget about just flycutting the pistons... you have to watch out for a valve hitting the crank!

Well, CamMotion's recommendation was:

RECOMMENDATION Grind Number R2481-2531-08+2 Duration (intake/exaust) 251/255 Lift (intake/exaust) .715/.719 Lobe Center Separation 108 Intake Centerline 106 Comments HOT LASH .025 Price US$385.00 + SHIPPING
Personally, I think that is a bit much, but ....

Seriously, I don't know if there is a dollar's worth of difference between them, but I'm banking on the Comp's living up to their price!!

With your cam, it might be best for you to pay the extra few bucks(I mean, few hundred bucks) for the 921's. But AFAIK, there haven't been any PP Gold failures to date when installed correctly. If he doesn't need the extra tolerance b/c of some higher lift #'s...why spend the extra $200 when the PP Golds or PRC's will do the job extremely well for far less money? I know they say you get what you pay for, but sometimes you just don't need THAT much damn spring. Likewise you don't put a 25.2 spec roll cage in a car that has a lid and a catback on it...its called overkill.

Exactly what are they recommending that cam for?

I run Patriot duals on almost all the cars I do from .560 lift to .630lift. No valve float issues up to 7200rpm or failures. We have a handfull of broken REV springs here

Exactly! He forgot to mention that part of the story.

They damn sure didn't recommend that cam for his daily driver.

It is for my daily driver. It is just a head/cam/bolton car, but I do race it on the weekends. I am tired of the hassle with hydraulic lifters and was thinking of a solid roller cam. I'm running a 232/232 custom Comp now.

No. Really. It is my daily driver. I do take it to the strip on the weekends. I'd heard some time back that CamMotions recommendations were over the top, and I would have to agree. I was thinking of something around 236-240* and less than .650 or so lift to replace my current 232/232 .612/.595.

Can you turn 7200 with the PP duals on an XE-R lobe, or do you run less agressive stuff?

Maybe the guy though you meant the 454 ci LS6 from the 70s??? I still cant believe they would suggest that big a cam for a daily driver LS1. Are you gonna be idling at 2K at the red light, still playing foot games to keep the motor from dying... and forget about power brakes... hopw you have a vacuum canister.
