Default Best heads for the 02 LS6 cam...

Curious as to heads would be worth running with a bolton car (6sp) that already has a GM 02 LS6 cam.The car is a driver and runs 12.20's on DR's and the customers is a STREET guy,he wont change the cam.

Any mild head will do fine with such a mild cam. Do not overdo it because it will be overkill unless he plans on a cam upgrade anytime in the future.

JS, The 205cc AFRs would do the trick. There was a guy on the Corvette Forum that made 409rwhp with AFRs using stock LS6 cam, stock cast iron manifolds & cats, and stock catback. That's killer power on the street with no downsides (except cost).

Hi Folks
I have the LS6 Cam and the LS6 Ported GM heads. The CR is 11.2-1. I understand the heads are ported by John Lingenfelter groups for GM. They maybe cheaper and give you the performance he wants.

I think your customer would be happy with any set of stage 1 / 1.5 heads. With a street head you need two things compression and port velocity. You shouldn't concern yourself with flow numbers over 0.550" lift.

The LS6 ported head is an awsome head, but wow is it pricey. You might look at the GTP stage 1 or TEA stage 1 5.3 heads. Shoot for a 10.7 to 11.0 compression.

Hey Brien it's Dennis , hows it goin bud? You're right about JPR. It's a shame to man.
Joe's stages ones are still on my car now for 2 years and i still run a baby 216/220 cam I ran a best so far of a 10.93 @ 1126.71 mph on a 125hp shot of juice. Even with full weight...My N/A best was a 11.79 @ 115.01 mph. I'm gonna work with Joe to touch up my stage 1's to get more flow and to keep the runner small. My heads still even have the bump in the intake runner where the rocker boss is located..hehe. Gotta love it!! Joe ports killer heads. I have a new TR224 cam to install but i wanna talk to Joe about opening the runners to better match the cam, if he can. I figure i'm getting about 5/10's from Joe's heads. Most guys i see running a converter and a 216/220 cam run about 12.2's to 12.3's. And my best N/A was a 11.79 only on a 1.62 60'. I got new Hooziers so if figure with a better 60', set my converter to lock up alittle later and put the TR224 cam in, i think 11.60's N/A and 10.70's spraying should be in the bag. We'll see...Plus a got a few more tricks coming soon

Hey Joel whats up? Tommy is right i have GTP heads but they are LQ9's for my next engine project. Well Joe is still in NJ but he's not porting heads. I wanna ask him his advice on my stage 1 to see if they can be alittle bigger for more flow. What does Tom think my GTP heads are on my car? Nope....still JPR heads buddy. I love the TR224 cam. I had it in my car 2 years ago with stage 2 heads, but switch to stage 1's and a 216/220 cam to prove small parts work great for the street and track. I feel bad about anyone that is owed money but i know Joe ports killer heads. I have been in touch with Craig from GTP to touch up my stage 1's and he wants to do it. I just need to ship them down. But i might just use the money from the 427 MTI blower motor and just leave the stage 1 setup as is. 10.60's might be in the bag with a better 60' and stop my converter from locking up at 95 mph in 3rd. I moved the lockup point to 110mph. And i'm still running my stock 2002 WS6 rims that weigh over 45lbs. Plus my front sway bar is still connected and i run my stock shocks. So 10.7's with the adjusted converter and better 60' should happen. Then maybe another half a tenth with the cam. Since Tommy is always worrying about my car, how's his car doing? Is he still saying that GTP's heads are slowing Rick's car down??

Thats funny Dennis,Tommy told me u had a set of GTP heads?
Are they for your big motor project?

I agree my 1st Gen JPR S1/TR224 worked great,U cant argue with 11.48@117

I have a new combo Dennis,(CM INC. S1 LS6/TR224),Local guy did them for me and I'm running the trusty TR224 to compliment them.My cars heavy (3600lbs) but I think I can run 11.30's@119 ALL MOTOR with this setup?

Your car is real impressive Dennis and your gonna LOVE the TR224.
Come on------>10.60's

So Joe's still out and about huh,Dennis.I bet ALOT of guys on here would sure like to know where JP is so they can get the MONEY he still owes them.Hell 11BRAVO is still out 5K and a few others are owed over a 1K.If it were me I'd get MY MONEY,u can believe that bro.

Sad man,Joe could really port but was bad at business.

We have a couple of different heads that would work great for you. The AFR 205's and we also have a set of CNC ported LS6 heads.

SD4825A $1,990.50 (pair)

SDPC CNC ported cylinder head
*cores sent to Lingenfelter for them to run the GM performance
*CNC program.
*They have not been milled at all.
*They are a 69cc chamber
*Stock LS6 valves and the 02 and latter valve springs
*(2.00 intake/1.55 exhaust springs good to 570 lift).

Valve Lift.....Intake.....Exhaust
0.100...........66..........58
0.200...........139.........113
0.300...........215.........157
0.400...........261.........191
0.500...........292.........210
0.550...........300.........214
0.600...........288.........218

I can get you into a set of the AFR 205's for $1,125.00. I don't have flow charts for them yet, but they should be CLOSE to the same as the above chart. Let me know if I can help!!

Is $1,125 a typo? If not, let me know today & I will give you my credit card.
