Default Oil pump question

kinda concerned over the loss of oil pressure with our cars and am wondering if maybe there should be a gasket of some type between the pump and the block???

nope. It's metal on metal. I don't think that would have much to do with low oil pressure...

As Tommy said, the reason theres no gasket where youre looking is because the whole oil pump is contained within the timing chain cover, and that has a gasket on it. That whole section of the engine is an area where oil can freely roam.

yes I'm changing mine out right now. Just concerned on the metal to metal contact with no gasket. The contact point is where the oil leaves the pump to inter the oil journals within the block. If oil seaps out from that point you will have low or no pressure. I would think a thin paper type of gasket should be placed there as there is on the oil pumps themselves??? Anyone?

The surface is milled to exacting specifications. I would not mess with it.
In my opinion, putting a gasket there would do more harm than good....
