GMPP 572 Leaking oil, need ideas, help if you can
We have a 1957 Belair with a GM Performance 572. Runs well, great power, but seems to be weeping oil from the head gaskets. I have sprayed everything off with brake cleaner, and the leaks return. The only shiney/oily area seems to be where the heads and block mate up. Seems weird to me that oil would leak here.
Have checked the oil pressure unit in back and it is dry, and it isn't the pan, because it is running down the side of the block on each side.
Any ideas out there?

odd..big blocks do like to leak a bit from the headgaskets but usually this happens when they have benn sitting for a long *** time, and I usually just put some damn bars leak in there but on a 572 u spent that kinda cash on Id make GM look at the thing

I don"t think its the headgaskets,I bet its the valve cover gasket or the area between the block and the bottom of the intake manifold. Also sounds like you need a better breather system to relieve the base pressure from blowby.I wouldn"t put in Barsleak to stop an oil leak as this would be in the coolant passages anyway, not where the oil is.Check your gasket around the distributer,I have seen oil go up in the distributer and run back out.
