Hey guys, I'm tired of the Hotcam, I want something with alot more midrange punch. Anyways, I'm about to hit 70,000 miles on my car. I have phenomenal oil pressure, 45-50 at idle and 75-80+ when I punch it. The only thing I'm worried about is my 70,000 mile bearings. Is it safe to do another cam change? Thanks guys!

 

I've got 74,000 miles, 3 months ago put on AS 5.3's, and in about 2 months TR 224/224. Some guys are still modding At 150,000 miles. If you run synthetic oil these engines have got to be good for 200-250,000 miles. When I was talking to my installer recently he told me he didn't see any reason to replace the timing chain or oil pump. I am going to put in a new oil pump.

 

I meant to say timing chain, not oil pump.

 

haha, ive done 3 camswaps on my car from 80k+ miles, now i have 100k with an X1 cam spraying 100 shot

at 5500 Density Altitude i run 11.7 in the 1/4....i'd say your safe for puttin in another cam...your car is just gettin broken in

by the way i run nothing but castrol syntec blend oil and it seems to do its job

 

your lifters may fall out with that many miles.....get a bunch of those pen-sized magnets and put em down your push-rod holes. You may be fine.....mine didn't fall at 60k but if they do its a pain to get em.

 

I did mine at around 70,000 miles and all the lifters stayed up, but I put in a couple of 5/16" metal rods just in case.

 

HA! I'm not risking any of that lifter bullshit after reading about that one guys nightmare! I bought the JPR cam tool and used it the first time and you can be damn sure I'm using it again!

 

Which cam are you thinking of sliding in there Mike?

 

I thought the hot cam was supposed to have good midrange torque.

 

What cam do you plan on going with?
