Default 382 stroker cam help

I wanting to change cams in my 382 stroker. I'm running a Lunati 242 242 595 595 on a 112 lsa and not happy with the performance. Looking for a cam with more lope at idle & more aggressive. Any one running a T-rex in there 382? Thanks for any info.

Why dont you run a comp can 242/242 108 lsa work real nice in a 346 . Very aggressive and good torque.

Cheers

Yeap, think I saw a vid on that one. Thing is the majority in US use MAF tuning VS speed density in Aussie Land. Makes it a little harder to tune, especially on A4.
With a professional tuner, I think he could make it work with his M6.

I have a split duration 240-244 cam in mine with a 112 ls. It has a good range of power.

The idle isn't effected by the number of the duration as much as it is by the split in the duration and the LSA. A 224/228 110 would idle similar to a 254/258 110. Elongating the split and lowering the LSA will make the cam lope more.
Back to the subject, if your going to take the time to remove the cam, you should step up a little. I would reccomend a 244/248 XE-R on a 112 if you plan on spraying sometime, 110 LSA if you don't. It also has alot to do with what kind of heads you have. If your car is lacking on the exaust side of things, which is what it sounds like to me, your car will not perform well with a single plane (242/242) cam. Spliting the duration will help by holding the exaust valve open a little longer and letting more of the air escape from the combustion chamber.

actually it's both

Idle is all overlap and you can make the duration larger or make the LSA tighter and either one will get more overlap.....

Now sure making the exhaust larger will give you more "idle" because you will be opening the valve while fuel is still burning and it will burn on the way out the ports/headers. This sounds "cool" but it also makes the engine less efficient. It will also make the engine run hotter because that burning fuel will burn against the back side of the valve and super heat it. Then when it closes on the seat it dumps that heat into the head (which is also being super heated by fuel burning in the exhaust port).

Guys, thanks for all the info. I'll call Thunder & Futral and see if I can get a custom cam. The last time the car was dynoed it made 450rwhp. Heads are stock CNC ported heads.

ERRHH?????

the 224 is rather mild (to a point) could amost hide at 900rpm. ain't no way your going to tell me these are going to idle even close to each other!

Notice I said on a 110 LSA, plus a 224/228 not just the TR 224. A 224 on a 114 could be hidden. Not much overlap if any and a 114 LSA, who couldn't hide that? My 218/228 112 sounded no diffrent than my 230/236 112. The diffrence was prolly in the loss of 4 degrees of exaust duration. Either way, I didn't say you wouldn't be able to tell the diffrence, but I think the diffrences would be less noticable than you think.
