I discussed the parts we would use for the buildup...
Let's see what happening, it's been a month...
Longblock
Speed Inc. is in the process of machining the new LS6 block and balancing the rotating assembly. I will also have them assemble the shortblock. The shortblock will be .005. It should be done next week.
Parts: LS6 crate block, factory LS1 crank, Eagle 6.125 rods, Diamond 9:1 pistons, Rollmaster timing chain, FMS oil pump, Comp R lifters, FMS stage II supercharger cam, Crane valve springs, Comp titanium retainers, 6.0 stage II heads, 6.0 GM head gaskets, ARP main studs, custom H11 head studs, stock rockers
Transmission/ Converter
Blowzilla is getting a turbo 400 conversion. We are getting the converter from TCS, it's their Phoenix Super Pro. It's a hard hitting converter, 245mm, and we are hoping for at least 5000 stall speed. We are most likely getting a Coan T400 through LS1 Motersports, but that is not ordered as of yet. I will be using a B&M Pro Ratchet in the car.
Parts: TCS 5000 stall, Coan T400 with 'brake, B&M 19,000 GVW, B&M Pro Ratchet shifter, M6 crossmember
Supercharger
The Vortech YS trim arrived two weeks ago. In addition I will have a custom three core intercooler made locally. Sikora Precision will take delivery of the car after it's running on horsepower, and they will fab up the new piping for the intercooler. The supercharger and intercooler will hopefully be on the car two weeks after the motor and tranny are in the car.
Parts: Vortech YS trim, V" 8 rib balancer and crank pulley, V" 3.12 blower pulley, V" Mondo Bypass, custom blower bracket, custom intercooler, custom blower piping
Rearend/ Suspension
Since I have already had the car running for a few years at the track the changes in this category are minimal. I am going to keep the 4.11 gear for now but I am going to install a 3.50 gear once the car is making some mph. I am only needing to change the torque arm at this time, so I will remove the Random Tech and will be installing an Alston Racing torque arm.
Parts: Strange 3.50 gear, Alston Racing torque arm
Fuel System
I have decided to keep the Bosch 39 lb injectors in the car until I am ready to install the new external fuel system. Once the blower is on the car I will install the new fuel system. We will be installing new fuel rails with an external fuel pump with all the trimming. I am undecided on fuel line size but it will be at least -8.
Parts: Weldon 2025 fuel pump, Speed Inc./Sikora Precision fuel rails, Speed Inc. Drag gas tank, Siemens 83 lb injectors
PCM
In addition to keeping my stock 98 pcm and harness, I will be installing a piggyback computer. This computer is a new offering, and at this time we cannot release the name of the manufacturer. We will be evaluating the box to see how well it works for forced induction setups. It's on the way and I should have it in the next few business days. We are also borrowing a wideband setup so we can use it for tuning on the fly. This pcm solution features low impedance drivers and other features that I will write about as soon as I have spent some time messing with it... It also uses the factory crank signal which is nice.
Parts: Aftermarket pcm system
PARTS we have: heads, block, gaskets, cam, lifters, springs, retainers, blower, gas tank
PARTS on their way: Converter, PCM box
PARTS we are waiting for but ordered: Headers, injectors, torque arm
PARTS we need to order: transmission, mufflers, exhaust tubing, shifter
I am going to order the shifter and mufflers today, and make a decison on the transmission today too.
I am hoping like crazy to have the car at the BG shootout but that's contingent on having all the parts we need. I can get around most of the parts, I can find similar ones, but the headers are taking a while and we really need big ones.

I'm gonna send a few folks the manual to see what they think, like Harlan.
I am on the phone with SDPC2000.com ordering the Flowmaster mufflers and the B&M shifter... wow they sure carry a lot of stuff I would have ordered through Jegs in the past.
You've got me curious about the piggyback PCM... Give me some details when you can. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
I'll admit, I am shopping hard for the transmission... Right now I am leaning towards ordering one through LS1 Motorsports. I know Rob has a Coan turbo 400 in his 9.94 turbo Z/28 so I think I might give them a try... Let me say the number of choices I have are staggering, and I am looking for the cheapest and quickest solution... FLP's stuff rocks but I have also wanted to order some things through LS1 Motorsports since I have only ordered like one part from them in five years...
George, another point regarding this controller, it's the only commercially available pcm controller that's made specifically for the LS1. Retail will hopefully be under $1000. Hopefully the number of wires I need to splice are less than 10. I can tap most of them right by the pcm. I'll start looking at the manual tonite!!!!
TCI makes the transmission I could use but with so many choices it's hard to narrow it down to just one...

Do you plan on doing any dyno runs with the motor N/A just for curiousity sake?

The pcm controller is not available yet. You'll have to wait until a few of us use it for a while and have a feel for what it can and cannot do.
Tony
Good luck with the car

i didnt think this was about withholding information.. but if you are doing alpha/beta testing for them then that would make sense.. but then it would not yet be commercially available?
bottom line is i probably want one to fool with <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

[QB] Blowzilla? I'm not ready to start the next chapter but I wanted to add a brief teaser...
Shortblock: Machining done, getting assembled
now, should be done by Friday.
Transmission: FLP will have it done by Monday.
Converter: TCS is shipping it tomorrow.
Headers: Kooks is shipping them tomorrow.
Torque Arm: It should be ready now Alston is making it.
Heads: Need to drop them off to have the seat pockets opened up that should turn around fast. Going with Crane springs.
3.5 oval exhaust: Boyce completed it, I had 5 foot lengths made... $57 each... Oval pipe but round on one side.
Mufflers: Flowmaster 3.5 oval inlet low profile mufflers, on back order, supposedly shipped today along with my B&M Pro Ratchet shifter.
Gas Tank: Speed Inc.'s drag tank has been ready and I will pick it up tomorrow.
---
I still have a lot of fuel system parts to order but most of that stuff can be delivered in 24 hours. I"m going -10 to a Y block up front, and then going -8... I might feed one rail and then loop it al or feed to both lines I'm pretty open to comments on that.
There are some other parts that I have not dealt with, like making the speedo work but they will have to wait until after the BG Shootout.
You take the tail housing off, change the gear, and the magnetic pick up goes
in the side of the housing.Extend the wires from the passenger side.
I think it is 200 and some dollars.
