Default Z06 PVC mod

Has anyone drilled and tapped in a port into the lifter valley cover instead of buying the LS6 cover? I believe I am going to do it this weekend. Any forseen issues??
thanks

As cheap as the valley is, I would just purchase the part and have peace of mind.

I agree with Bowtie. I did this mod, but purchased all the corerct parts. Very easy, however, pay close attention to removing the intake manifold as the oil pressure sending switch is right behind it and when pulling stuff it's VERY easy to break it. I did, as did a lot of folks who have changed intakes. Otherwise, it's a decent mod.

There's no point in just drilling/tapping a hole in the LS1 valley cover. It won't do you any good. The LS6 valley has a special oil seperator built into it. Be prepared to cut the block for clearance for the LS6 valley if you have a pre-'01 block.

.....correct on the cutting of the block.

If you have a pre 01 you will also need:
LS6 intake
LS6 air tubes
5/16" fuel line hose
and an end cap

There's a write up on one of the LS1 web sites.

When I was swapping my heads I did the LS6 PCV conversion also. Bought the LS6 valley cover and it was very easy. I didn't have to touch the block as I have an 02 LS6 block so it was alot easier. I would just buy the LS6 valley cover for the reason's 1fastWS6 stated.
