Spring tool

Is there a problem with using a normal spring tool? or using a normal spring tool break the bolts on the heads or whatever? Should I only use one specific tool for the LS1's cam swap??? Plz help... doing the swap tomorrow.

i had my heads off but i used a spring compressor from sears it worked just fine not the lever style but one that sits on the spring its an ohc style

I agree. The Crane tool rocks! Makes the job much, much easier.

I used the Larry tool. It's just a piece of metal with a hole through, but it gets the job done.

I agree. Sure, it costs a little more than other spring tools, but if you're gonna be doing more than 1 spring change over the life of the car then it's well worth the investment.
