Hey Mark,
Don't take this as anything but a clarification. It is not intended to be disrespectful, but I believe our dyno numbers, and honesty have been challenged.

I am one of those BIG number Texas tuners, and we don't mess with our dyno. In fact, one of our less powerful cams (G5X-1)went in a Cam only bolt on car from Indiana, then went to Speed Inc in Chicago and pulled 407rwhp 401rwtq. I guess the dynos in Chicago read high also.

We have 2 more G5X-2 cam only cars going to Speed Inc for installs, and dyno this week. I will bet that they get those Texas size numbers also.

And on top of all that, I am sure that you know that Rageman's Cam only car ran 11.14@122mph. I thought that the 1/4 mile was the only true indicator, and that once a car ran well, that was supposed to validate the dyno numbers. Well our G5X-2 cam has done both. Dyno, in and out of Texas, and run a blistering 1/4 mile.

We just checked our dyno numbers against one in Austin Texas, and we were 8 rwhp less than their dyno numbers.

With all that in mind, I think that the moment of doubt has passed.

JS12 (Jamie) got over 425rwhp 411rwtq with our G5X-2 cam/bolt on package, with short belt and true duals and mufflers. It can be done, and it is being done.

thanks

Lou G

I'm glad you did though, because I just bought their RMS StageII heads this morning, along with a custom ground cam. Mark seems like an extreamly nice person, and was glad to do buy from him. P.S mark if you read this, I should have my heads off tomorrow, along with a 1700.00 M.O for a deposit.
thanks,

Mark, nice numbers! You can't go wrong with a set of heads that make great power and is priced under $1700!

Lou, I'm am just one of those people that would like to see it for myself. Am I doubting that that cam with those heads can't make more than 400rwhp? It might...customer wants me to install a comp cam similar to your G5X2 and we'll see what the advantages and disadvantages are over some of the tamer cams we use for peoples everyday drivers. I can tell you that we have used 230/230 cams and they will make more peak hp than the 228/224 we use alot but the smaller cam flat out kicks the 230 cams *** until 5600rpm. Sure your stock headed test car went 11.14 at 122mph but also ran 11.5 at 118mph with bolt ons if that means anything about how his car is set up. I would just like to see a G5X2 head and cammed fbody on another dyno, even Speed Incs to see what other sources come up with.

Seth, your heads are being finished as we speak..I'd really like for you to get some track numbers for us.

Also glad to see everyone likes the results of some heads that put out some awesome power for the money. Don't forget...we still have to put an ASP pulley on this car.

If really really wanted to get some peak numbers we could throw 16 inch stock wheels on it, a shortbelt, lube up the dyno bearings between runs and hit the rev limiter to get another 4-5hp spike, but we don't want other dyno shops to have to do that to repeat our numbers.

Rageman's race weight was 3350 with a 850 DA.

and I don't think .4 gain in a 1/4 mile is that easy to achieve. So going from a 11.56 to a 11.14 is not easy after just a cam install.

There is a G5X-2 cam and head car going to Speed inc in a few weeks.

It wouldn't matter if I said "Boo", some of you here would make it out to be a bad thing, yet some of you feel you can call LG a liar, and not get called for it.

There are 30 G5X-2 cams out there, in various hands. The independant numbers will be out from dynos all over the US. 3 of the 4 fastest bolt on cars in the US have bought the G5X-2 cam, and they are serious racers. What will you say when they have great results?

Not for anything, but the routine of pimping your favorite vendor, and bashing anyone who out does them is getting old.

When we post dyno numbers, you all say go to the track, then when we go to the track, you say it doesn't matter? You can't have it both ways. To try to perpetuate the myth that high hp numbers are false and only lower numbers deserve congratulations is wacky.

Call it whatever you want, but it is still weird and misleading to the 20,000 members who don't post every day.

Mark, Sorry for hijacking your thread. I would never have jumped in if there were no references to "dishonest" hp claims from Texas. Please understand that there are no false numbers coming out of my shop.

Later

LG

First off, I'd like to congratulate the RMS team for laying down 420+ RWHP on a $1700 (!!) set of heads!! You guys definitely seem to have something for the more budget-concious (sp??) folks out there. Out of curiosity, what kind of lift do the 987 springs support??

On a completely unrelated subject, Damian- what do you think is more likely, all of the dynos from competing shops here in Texas (LGM, FASTech/MMC, AMS, Speedtek, 21MC, MTI, etc...) spread across several hundred miles (Dallas, Austin/San Antonio, Houston) are "tricked", or that the dynos in Atlanta aren't set up properly?? I'm NOT implying that people in the Atlanta area don't know what they're doing, but let's face it... how many different dynos would you like to see numbers from before you finally decide that there isn't any "tricking" going on??

Oh, and before I forget, if all of the Texas dynos are tricked, I guess that means that the New Jersey dynos that have shown similar numbers out of H/C packages are tricked, too, huh??

Great Numbers Mark. Congrats on the new shop, and best of luck to ya man.

We shouldn't be disputing who's Dyno's do what and who's cars do what, and whether its the truth or not. We should be talking about how a good head is only less than $1700 and that's hard to find. Mark is putting out his honest numbers from these Heads, and Cam packages.

IMHO RMS is the BEST shop out there. Best prices, Best Customer Service and Great People who are behind the scences running the shop.
