Off the shelf cams vs. custom grind cams

The only apple to apple comparision dyno I have is The X-3 to the Juggernaut.
The juggernaut makes 10rwhp/11 rwtq more through the entire band.
Peak HP is made @ 6400ish on both cams.

T-Rex: Intake .070", Exhaust .090"
Seems as tight as clearance as any of the g5 cams.

The T-Rex is definetly bigger than the G5X4 then, since the T-Rex is peaking at 6600-6700.
I imagine the G5X4 specs are: 236/244 .600/.610 111lsa.

I don't know if it's bigger than the X-3, but I know it makes more power.
I don't pretend to be a cam expert,never have.
I leave those decisions to LG.
I just tell Lou and Louis to make me a powerful cam that fits and they do.
Maybe I'm not that interested in PEAK power or power made @7k.
Maybe I'm interested in running ET's not dyno numbers.

www.moreperformance.com has a highly respected computer software program that can pick your cam. The service is free if you purchase the cam from them. 379.99

01-Z: Did it pick up the 10 rwhp/11 rwtq on a naturally aspirated pull or with the nitrous? My setup is for all motor and wasnt your cam desiged to perform with and without nitrous? If the Juggernaut put out the most power out of all 3 cams and peaked at 6400, this may be the cam for me because I'll be shifting the car at 6600 rpms which is just above peak. I wont have to shift it as high as a 6 speed car would or someone with a smaller converter, because the Yank PT4400 I have has really high/good shift extension to keep me in the higher rpms/higher powerband. What do you shift your car at? What is your shift extension on naturally aspirated runs? Thanks.

So youve had the G5X-2, G5X-3, and now you have the Juggernaut. Each time you changed cams, there were gains? What did the G5X-2 peak out at? What about the G5X-3? What do you shift your car at now naturally aspirated? Do you ever plan to set your car up for an all motor? Im sure with more gear and more converter, you could run some 10.50s.

The problem is, I dont know too much about cams. Then there are so many cams out there, its hard to choose. Either Friday or the following Monday Im going to call up some sponsors for suggestions.

Your best bet is to find a shop you trust and leave the cam spec decisions up to them.
