Default Is my cam and nitrous a bad mix?

I have a 228/228 with .571 lift and 112 percent seperation. I want to put 100 to 150 shot of nitrous on my 2000 Vette. I want to know if that would be a bad idea since the intake and exaust from my cam are the same. I have heard that you want the exaust valve open longer if you are spraying nitrous. Any help would be greatly apreciated!

That cam will do fine on the spray. Better an even split than a reverse split.

Alot of people say that the cam doesnt matter for small shots of nitrous. And by small they mean 150 shot or less. That is about the limit that most people with stock internals run anyways.

if you're not shootin bigger than a 150 shot, the cam really doesn't matter that much. after that, you want a traditional split cam, ie TSP's 231/237, Futral's FM9 232/236.

So if I spray 150 shot on my Vette, will this affect the longevity of my engine? And I heard that wet systems are best for engine's longevity! Is this true?

I originally had a 224/224 cam and was very happy with the results. On a TNT 100 shot I made 532/650. Like mentioned above, get the cam you want seeing how you will most likely be n/a 99% of the time.

How will nitrous effect the longevity of my motor? I've heard that nos will mess up the engine!

Its a fact of life that higher hp equals more wear. The added stress of higher rpms and higher hp will eventually take its toll. Nitrous can be very safe to use as long as its TUNED for it. Yes it will affect the longevity, but if its setup and tuned correctly it won't be too bad.

RPMs KILL MOTORS. any time you alter these motors, you'll possibly alter their longevity. n2o's effect will differ based on frequency of use, size of shot, et cetera. wet shots help avoid some issues b/c they don't rely on the PCM for the extra fuel. thats why its a wet kit, a fuel solenoid comes with it as well.

If you are worried about longevity, don't use nitrous. For that matter, leave your car stock.

Here's a nice rule of thumb: if you can't afford to replace it, don't do it.

I honestly wouldn't expect an instant extra 150 HP to be good on anything, but it sure would be fun.
