ARP head studs > 6 or 12 point best?

Default ARP head studs > 6 or 12 point best?
I am ordering ARP head studs for my LS1. Does it matter if I get the standard hex 6pt or the 12pt? The 12pt is more money but are they better?

The 12 point nuts are lighter(not a big deal, couple of grams) and have more contact on the socket for better grip.

The 12 pt's also distribute the load across the nut better. Of course you need a 12 pt. socket also.

Yikes you guys are getting very fussy about these ARP parts! I think for my sub-1000hp LS1 the studs with 6pt nuts will be more than enough

pdd, technically speaking 6pt has less bite, less contact area for torque applications. 12pt distributes loads more even, and have greater surface area.

Unless you are going extemely wild 6pt are more than enough.

I think they mean it as more contact with the socket. Since only the edges closest to the corners actually make contact, having more corners means more contact. IIRC, ARP nuts and bolts have round washer bottoms anyway.

If you still torque both to the same torque spec, whats the difference? Like it was said, maybe a couple of grams less mass across the entire set.

I actually think this is backwards. Since its only the corner that contacts te wrench, 6pts have a greater chance of rounding off than 12 points do. Can somebody back me up here?

I already have. The points are like splines of an axle, more spline count-more contact. Also like threads, fine threads are stronger than course threads.
