pdd, technically speaking 6pt has less bite, less contact area for torque applications. 12pt distributes loads more even, and have greater surface area.
Unless you are going extemely wild 6pt are more than enough.

If you still torque both to the same torque spec, whats the difference? Like it was said, maybe a couple of grams less mass across the entire set.
