Question 383 question

ok i get too many different answers to this question..im building an ls6 motor and i wanna know if you want a 383 do you have to bore the cylinders....i know the stock crank stroke is 3.622 w/ a 3.905 inch bore..now if i went to a 4.0 inch stroke with a 3.905 inch bore would that work on a ls6 block...

actually the stock block has a 3.90 bore and 3.622 stroke. its when you do the .005 hone that you acheive the true 383 w/a 4" stroke. so the answer is yes, you have to hone the block for a 383 stroker.

You will have to have a machine shop hone the cylinders for the 3.905 pistons. It shouldn't cost too much.
