Just looking to see if different setups eat more oil than others and determine any trend in possible causes.

Thanks guys!!
MY first 436 burned oil horribly. 1 quart every 300 miles. But my rings, for whatever reason, didn't seat and were traqshed. But after ARE rebuilt it it burns maybe 1 quart every 1,500 to 2,000 miles. Never smokes at any time, not on start-up, not on acceleration and not on deceleration. Seems damn good.

4.100 biore...4.125 stroke
LS6 intake..catch can and valley cover
Agostino Racing Engines built it
250 miles per week
LS1 ported heads

383
4.00 stroke/ 3.905 bore
LSX 90
TEA ported AFR castings
TSP< I am the second owner. Also, previous owner installed LSX 90, AFR/TEA heads
First month I had it I put 5k miles on it. Now, about 250 a month.
Consumes about a qt every 1k miles with lots of oil in the catch can. I also pulled the LSX and there was oil in the ports.
Never really noticed any smoke.

I see nobody has used the 3.9" stroke forged Eagle crank?? I think that would give you a little less side loading, right?

Very true, I have not had to add any oil to my HPE 408 after about 1200 miles since the last oil change..

Mine uses more than it should. No, I dont see any blue smoke when it runs. No oil leaks can be found either.

I believe most use more than non strokers. Talking to engine builders leaves me to believe its more of the norm than the exception. I had mine to a shop yesterday where we discussed this issue.

I think a winter time purchase will be an A&A vacuum pump. I may try a catch can to keep the oil of of the intake in the mean time.

JMHO
