Default Possible stupid question

Someone asked me if increasing your main/rod bearing clearances ie. making the crank looser in the journal .........will the engine pick up oil pressure?
Sorry if this is a stupid question.

You would loose pressure because the bearing surfaces are not as tight together. Just like when you use a heavier viscosity oil, oil pressure goes up, because there is more resistance.

That is kind of what I was thinking but I didn't know if there was something that I wasn't thinking about. Thanks.

Indeed. I had a motor with low oil pressure and when I tore it down I found the cam bearings were worn. The more bearing clearance the lower the oil pressure.
