New York Emissions ideas
Ny just passed a bill to have emissions testing on all 96 and up vehicles. This test is done through a computer connected directly to the state, and the dmv. Now, this is not a sniffer test. this plugs right into the OBD2 port and scans your vehicles computer. It is looking to see if you have any engine codes, and that your monitors are in ready mode. if you have no engine codes and all your monitors show ready, you pass.
Here is my question, is there any way i am going to keep my engine from throwing codes, and make sure all monitors are ready on a TReX cam? I know you can just delete codes with hp tuners, but once you delete the code wont the monitor show not ready? any input would be great.

If I'm not mistaken, this is the same type of test that is being performed here in Houston. I have had the EGR removed from the computer and have had no problems. I think you should be ok with a proper tune and eliminating the "bad" codes.
By the way, I'm from Buffalo, NY but moved to Houston 4 years ago. No more snow!!!!!

Oh man, this is music to my ears. I live in NY and I've been pulling my hair out trying to figure out how to get around emissions and I wasn't sure how hard it would be to get by this new testing. I don't have ls1 edit or anything and my check engine light isn't on. is there any way i could find out if i getting any trouble codes?

You can monitor readyness status with HPtuners, what ever code you delete or emissions device you turn off, make sure the readyness status still passes. If you turn the egr valve off I think it'll show up as unready. I would zero out the tables so its "ready" but will never open.
