The LS2 timing chain is cheaper and thick.

Dude take it easy, the time between your first and last post is 24 hours. Sometimes people don't get on everyday, or the people that are on can't answer the question. On top of that, have you searched? I could tell you just by searching that A TON of people go with a heat-treated Rollmaster Double Roller...you can get them at TSP for like $125 or something like that.

Sorry, I missed the part about wanting a good single.

I don't know much about these, but I've heard good things about the rollmaster. So if I had to say right now, I'd go with the rollmaster single roller. But like I said, you need others opinions, as I've never used any of these.

But why not spend a little more and get an adjustable double roller? They aren't much more money, but if you ever got a different cam, or it was ground wrong, or if you wanted your current cam degreed in differently, it'd be easy to adjust.

some people are telling me that the single is strong enough for what i want to do and its better because its less weight, and i hate to say it cuase i dont wanna go the cheap way out but the single chain is a lot cheaper, esp the ls2 chain. i guess ill have to think about it more. plus i dont want to have to worry about the oil pump intall with the double, i hear its a pain

Any particular reason you don't want the double roller? The weight difference isn't really that much, plus they are stronger and can take more abuse. The adjustibility with the double roller is optional, the keyway for the factory setting on the crank sprocket is marked with a DOT like on the teeth for lining up the two sprockets. Now, people has seen good results with the Cloyes single chain, but IMO I would go with the double roller, just for added insurance and they aren't that much more expensive then the single's....

"plus i dont want to have to worry about the oil pump intall with the double, i hear its a pain"

you have to take the oil pump off to get to the crank sprocket, so either way you have to take the oil pump off, and with the double roller, they give you spacers and longer bolts for the oil pump mounting to componsate for the extra "row" so there is no extra modifications for the double to work....

J-WIS chain. No need to change sproket or cam gear. It is the official C5-R LE MANS timing chain, need I say more. I have one on my XER comp cam.

I don't think enough people have the ls2 to recommend it, but it's oem gm so I don't think you'll have any problems with it. That is probably what I would go with if i didn't have a double already.
