guys that have installed cams
The argument is of course:
1. Your'e already there
2. You own a 99'; notorious for oil pump failures ( mine did at 35K, dealer stiffed me )
3. Timing chain loosens up over time; may as well get a new one.
BTW, in January 2000 I bought a 99' T/A after owning a 96 for 3 years. Didn't work on the 96 at all, or any other car I've owned since 1984.
In 2001 I got into autox and started changing the suspension. Bought tools etc, jackstands etc.
When the motor went in 2002, I decided to have a shop do it all. Towed it to NJ from OH and everything. Lasted 12K. I was too afraid at the time to do it.
FF to 2004. Motor died. I decided to pull this motor etc. After doing it, I really wish I had done it back in 2002. As stated, it's not difficult just multiple 'little' jobs. NONE of it was difficult. The baggies with bolts and paper are what is saving me as I pulled the motor in October and won't be able to put it all back together till March. Digital pics of things ( before/after ) helps as well. FWIW, I'm going to pay to have the cam degreed in and timing chain/oil pump installed as I don't see a need to buy those specialty tools. But I'll do all the rest.
Anyway, go for it, the sense of accomplishment is awesome. Master cylinder and clutch install were tougher for me.

Reinstalling the pully sucked due to lack of the right tools which was previously mentioned. Having the right tools sure does make things easier.
You can buy it at sears or at autozone. The autozone one sells for about $34.99. You can also just rent it at autozone for free, that's what I did.

If you do decide to swap the timing chain or the oil pump, you may as well do them both. They arent that expensive either.
