Damn. Will have to watch out for a Red WS6 now. Vortech S-Trim @ 9# finally going on later this month.
Where you dyno'ing at?
I spend more time in the FI sections here. Only read this forum occasionally anymore. Too much Cam talk rehashing. Same old questions. LOL.

No.
The car is at Mike's still. The new PCM should be there tomorrow at 10:00am. He's gonna put it in, dyno tune and hopefully call me to come get it. It neede a different idle setting. He dynoed it on Saturday and siad it was a beast, but couldn't get a full pull because the stock fuel pump is still in there. I'll be changing that soon as it's broken in. Crossing my fingers for a tomorrow pick-up.

Here is what I do on a cold start.
I put my foot on the pedal and barly crack the throttle open. Then turn on the ignition. The after the engine starts, I give it enough gas so it's idling at 1500 rpms and maintain it. I put my left foot on the brake and keep it there when I put it in Drive or Reverse. Then at the first stop sign halfway down my block, my car is idling on it own so I can go back to braking with my right foot.
BTW if Ed Wright didn't figure it out for a 1998, it is the only way to get moving with an A4.

I'm at 1100 rpms but with my 3500 stall, it moves forward on idle no faster than my stock convertor did at the factory setting which was 550rpms I think. Other than that it runs just like stock and even passed California Emissions with my 427.

I have a 3000 stall, maybe I should go with a 3500 as well.
My idle is set at 1000 and it may be a bit tight for that idle.

As long as you are idling fine it should be fine. I also suggest you get Autotap, and LS1edit. It will save you a lot of time in the future. Hope Ed Wright still doesn't lock the tuning.

Dude, your bumming me out here a little bit, as MTI is presently building me a 427 LQ4 for my 98 C5 A4 and i hope i don't have to two foot it when i start it up?
What are your cam specs? I am planning to running MTI S1 cam with 244/244, .612 lift on a 112lsa. What is your lsa? I wonder if i should move up to a 114lsa b/c i don't want to have to two foot it like you describe.
Also, out of curosity are you running an iron or alum block and what bore and stroke are you running? What does your 427 A4 dyno at.
Sorry about all the questions but since i am getting my new 427 in the immediate future i am curious as heck.
THanks,
MTI 427 C5 Roadster

Trouble is the LS1Edit doesn't have the parking idle adjustments like the '99 and up do. To me it's no big deal I have to 2 foot it only at the cold start after which is running perfect. All I know if you envision a stock running car with all you are doing to it, be prepared for a shock. You can't have your cake and eat it too. You get all the performance and just live with the little idiocycracies. As long as your car doesn't stall in traffic, I would be satisfied.
The 4.125" bore and the 4.000" stroke make 427 cubic inches which is what I have.

Hi Lyle,
I always have to 2 foot it on a cold start with my 1998 with the 427. As soon as I take off the car warms up enough so it can idle on its own. If yours does that, don't dispair. It's just a minor inconvenence and you soon get used to braking with your left foot on start up. After it warms up you can go back to braking with your right foot.
