All differences in the LS1 and the LS6

Cylinder heads, Cam, Valves, Valve Springs, Oil Pump, Oil Pan (C5 specific), Intake Manifold (depending on year...'01+ LS1's use the LS6 manifold)

Guess I should be more specific, '04 LS1 and '04 LS6. Just seeing exactly what differences my car has from an '04 Z. And thanks for the reply, Yelo.

As far as I know the differences should only be the Heads (casting and valves only...springs are the same), Oil Pump and Oil Pan.....

i believe the block is different concerning the oil passages and such but they're both interchangable still.

You are right, but he may have a ls6 block. Some 01 and 02s have them and many of the 03 04s have them. So he may have one anyway.

The cam in a ls6 is different, exhaust manifold, cat-back, air box.

As far as your car goes there are tons of differences

I know there are tons of differences between the cars themselves, I was just wondering about the engine. Thanks for all the replies, btw!

the orignal LS1 piston was made by Mahle using a alloy called M124... the LS6 got pistons made of M142 (more copper and nickle)... this allowed tighter bore clearances.

but thats when the LS6 first came out.. i dont know if all genIIIs have them now or not. knowing GMs modern rep for updating everything GenIII that proves itself, you probly already have them...
but im not positive.
