Default choice of oil?

I know this has been talked about many, many, many times but I just have a quick question. Is Mobil 1 0w-40 full syn a good oil. I dont know if you need to know, but I live in texas, so the weather usually doesnt get too cold. The car does see high rpm's from time to time, (I really like freeway on ramps) . Please let me know if this was a wise choice. I will be changing my oil sometime next week.

I recently switched to the new Mobile 1 5w-40 4x4/SUV formula from the traditional 5w-30 Mobile 1. Both the 5w-40 and 0w-40 remain thicker at high temps than the 5w-30, and should protect better at high rpms. Both were recommended by Patman.

I just switched from the German Castrol to Mobil 1 0w40, but only because I can't find the German stuff anymore. So far, so good...oil pressure seems to be about the same, as well as engine noise. It gets pretty hot here in Florida in the summer, so I like the idea of running a thicker oil during those months especially. If I can find the German stuff again, though, it is going right back in my car on my next change.

Talking

I can not find the German oil aroung here so I have always used Mobil 1 5w30.
0w40 sounds good for summer months.

I used it for awhile. It has had good reviews. I am currently runnig Redline 10W-40. However, this summer i became an Amsoil dealer, and will be switching to Amsoil 10W-40 this spring. My car is not a daily driver so I use a little heavier oil. Just a personal preference.

I use Mobil 0W-40 as well, and it might have helped last weekend when I mistakenly grabbed 2nd gear at 88 mph

As far as I can tell, no damages for exceeding my 6800 rev limit.

I am an avid user of Mobil 1 5W-30 Full Synethic, but I am looking into trying Mobile 1 5w-40 4x4/SUV formula. Ive heard nothing but good results from the 4x4 formula.

Amsoil 5w-30 got better oil pressure with that then mobil1 5w-30. It also doesn't consume as much as it used to. I think it's all a personal preference(sp?).
