One reason for going to a higher amperage alternator would be to supply the current needs of a high power stereo system...... The stocker works fine in most instances though.

I think my voltage regulator is bad, because seems during day, car is OK. At night, seems like alternator can't keep up with demand of my headslights/interior lights/heater/radio which is a pioneer WITHOUT amp. *Sigh* I got my overdrive pulley in today, so I will see if overdrive fixes the car. If not, guess I gotta get alternator rebuilt.

Any tips on getting that little bolt off the alternator that holds the spinning thing that the pulley spins on?

I highly doubt you have a problem with your altenator other than that it is not spinning fast enough due to the UD pulleys. I have the overdrive alt pulley and I have to keep the car above 1200 RPM to handle the cooling fans, lights, blower motor, ... Get a torx T45? bit and a 15/16 wrench I believe and the pulley will come off. Or if you have a good air ratchet and socket. Leave the belt on while you try the air ratchet.
